Why the Democratic Party Has Concealed their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: A Deep Dive.

The move by the Democratic National Committee to block the publication regarding its internal autopsy report concerning the last presidential race seems shocking yet not surprising. Resistant to frank assessments, the Democrats' governing body operates more like a PR firm rather than a political organization devoted to building a volunteer base capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Culture of Conformity

Reluctant to challenge the prevailing attitude demanding unity, the DNC has remained within the influence of the previous administration all through this past year. Making public an official autopsy would have indicated that party leaders actually want to foster public discourse regarding the errors that enabled the former president to become president again. Yet, the leadership is moving forward as if there is little to glean following the stunning loss from the last cycle.

Our guiding principle: is this good for winning elections? If not, it becomes a sideline issue from what truly matters," a justification which was presented to justify concealing the analysis.

Major Failures an Autopsy Would Have Addressed

Any valuable post-mortem of substance would confront certain uncomfortable matters. Among them are:

  • Electoral Alienation: The loss of a significant portion of the electorate who voted for the Democratic ticket during the previous election became a critical factor in the close 2024 election.
  • The Decision to Seek Re-election: The determined decision of a party leader to run again, and an extremely delayed exit, has been criticized as robbing Democratic voters the chance for open primaries.
  • Losing Touch With Core Democratic Voters: During a time of rising costs, the electoral effort allegedly bowing to powerful financial backers and not managing to address the role of corporate greed.
  • The Gaza Effect: The failure to adjust a policy position concerning a major international conflict reportedly led to alienating key demographic groups, notably with youth voters, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Eroding Young Voter Support: Extensive evidence demonstrates a significant decrease of votes for the candidate from voters aged 18-29.

A Pattern of Evasion

The decision to withhold is consistent with a longstanding habit of sidestepping hard truths. It echoes an episode where nearly all elected Democrat in Congress went along with a sitting president's determination to seeking another term right up until a disastrous televised debate forced a change.

Concurrently, overwhelming numbers of the electorate had been continually telling surveyors that they opposed the incumbent to seek re-election.

Financial Questions

A substantive autopsy would also investigate matters about campaign spending, such as what sums were directed to insider consultants as well as media firms over the course of an electoral effort that managed to spend a colossal amount during the general election.

The Larger Problem

Ultimately, the blockage surrounding this report points to a deference toward the existing power structure that oversaw an unsuccessful presidential campaign. The signal to the party's base – including countless dedicated activists – appears to be that they do not have a right to see the lessons party chiefs have learned from an analysis compiled from feedback from all states.

A political entity incapable to publicly examine its mistakes will struggle to climb out of the pattern that proved so helpful to their opponents.
